WMA Policy on Washington State Regions

A. The state is currently divided into 10 regions as follows:

-Region 1: Whatcom, Skagit, Snohomish, and San Juan Counties

-Region 2: King County

-Region 3: Pierce, Thurston, Lewis, Mason, and Grays Harbor Counties
-Region 4: Kitsap, Jefferson, and Clallam Counties
-Region 5: Clark, Cowlitz, Skamania, Pacific, and Wahkiakum Counties
-Region 6: Yakima, Kittitas, and Klickitat Counties
-Region 7: Okanogan, Chelan, Douglas, and Grant Counties
-Region 8: Benton, Franklin, Walla Walla, Columbia, Garfield, and Asotin Counties

-Region 9: Spokane, Whitman, Adams, and Lincoln Counties
-Region 10: Ferry, Stevens, and Pend Oreille Counties

B. WMA members in each region are encouraged to meet regularly for the purpose of pursuing some or all of the goals and purposes of WMA at the local level, and to serve as a vehicle for communicating local information to the rest of the state.

C. When a person joins the WMA, they automatically become a member of a region. Their home region can be either the region in which they live or the region to which they choose to belong.

D. A list of WMA affiliated regular meetings may be made available to all members.

E. The board will designate one board member to be the regional representative for each region. The representative's role is to be a regional liaison to the Board. The representative need not live in the region they represent.

G. Each region may be allocated a small amount of money annually to cover minor expenses such as postage and copying. Regional representatives will be reimbursed for approved expenses by the WMA Treasurer.
